Turkish Star Wars

Well now that you've seen Chinese Pulp Fiction over at Steal This Blog, let me introduce you to the Turkish Star Wars film. I was given the dvd this morning and I watched this during my lunch hour. You can find all 10 parts on the Youtube site. This is part five, about half way through the film and at the 157th fight scene.
As you can see , actual SW footage was used in this alien bar scene. This sci fi film uses both SW and Raiders soundtrack throughout the film--and some Flash Gordon too I think.Never bothered to call Lucas or 20th Century Fox, did they?
There's no subtitles, so from what I can tell from it is that it's about two space pilots that crash land on a planet. I call them Starbuck & Apollo. They help out a village being terrorized by alien creatures and then there's this Ming the Merciless baddie out to stop them later on. A fun time waster.

Found out that there's a Turkish Star Trek and a Turkish E.T. too.

Reality tv

I rarely watch reality tv. I avoid anything with contestants & judges, especially if contestants are singing and/or dancing.
Really, just bring back Battle of the Network Stars—and I mean real tv stars. Hugh Laurie vs. Jason Lee, that’s what I’m talking about.

Anyway, the only reality shows that I really enjoy are Landscapers’ Challenge & Good Eats.
Landscapers’ Challenge: I’m just fascinated by this show. Something about turning a crappy yard into a mini oasis is very appealing to me. Makes me yearn for a yard—and about 5 grand to hire someone to make it into something beautiful.

Good Eats: This is my favorite on the Food Network. Host Alton Brown is like the Gil Grissom of the cooking world. I actually retain the knowledge from this show which is a first, because cooking never interested me. I’m usually impatient when it comes to cooking and I really don’t have a gift for it.

But this show actually sparks my interest in cooking, and I think it’s because of the history and scientific breakdown of what the food is and what happens to it while it’s cooking.

The Grindhouse

Had a great time with this one. It's long [just over three hours] but it was worth it. The first one was Planet Terror. A zombie schlocky send up with a colorful cast.
Michael Beihn, welcome back! You were excellent. He says my favorite line in the movie.

After Planet Terror there were several hilarious fake trailers. My favorite was "Thanksgiving". There was one with Jason Isaacs, the Harry Potter baddie. Like I said--a colorful cast.

Finally Deathproof. Kurt's "Stuntman Mike" ranks right up there with Snake Plisskin & Jack Burton. My only major nitpick with Grindhouse is that Tarantino's script in Deathproof needed trimming. He does those dragged out 10 minute conversations of bullsh*t banter & pop culture references, when 20% of the conversation actually relates to the plot. Anyway, it was still worth sitting through it because his car scenes were amazing. Plus it was really fun seeing Kurt go nuts.
