x men tres

I started off my summer blockbuster movie season with X-Men 3 the other day. A lot of folks around the office panned it before I saw it. But they're pretty much the true X men fans [comic book].
I actually enjoyed it. Not the greatest movie but it certainly fits in the category of " Fun summer movie" .. Which means for me : It didn't outright suck, I didn't waste my dollars, I had a good time with my friends, altogether a nice afternoon etc, etc.

"It's not Batman and Robin". [ quote: Davey]

Maybe that should be the movie's poster ad : "X-Men 3: It ain't Batman and Robin! "

My only major nitpick is Jean Grey. There are some scenes with her in the woods and she resembles Cate Blanchett in LOTR and I was laughing at that.

Movie trailers that were cool:
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 -- the supernatural villians look really cool. I'm impressed.Quote Devo: " The next Indiana Jones franchise"
I think he's right. I'm expecting the PoC Ride 2 at Disneyworld to open next summer.

not really cool, but interesting: Fast and The Furious part : ?, Tokyo Whatchmacalit. [ I forgot the title]
Starring Lil' Lucas "Sling Blade" Black, all grown up and looking like he could be following Kurt Russell's career of cute actor kid turned John Carpenter's bad ass star.

and of course: SNAKES ON A PLANE!

Davincitis

I think my cup hath runneth over. There's so much media attention with the book and movie.
History Channel has sold out and has been airing Da Vinci Code related programs all week. Geek that I am , I've seen them all. Twice already.

Since the recent post had a lot of Little Rascals talk, I thought I post a Our gang/Rascals pic.
It's baby related, because Baby Devo will be here soon.

film review week #2

One of the perks at work is that my computer plays dvds. So I bring in my movies when I need to put an extra hour or two.
This week:

Originally I was a fan of this film because it has some Stephen King schlocky horror humor, like Maximum Overdrive--an underrated film. "We made youuu!"
But now, the reason I love Silver Bullet : the major attraction is not the werewolf monster. It's Gary Busey. He plays Corey Haim's drunken, unemployed, loud mouthed, slob uncle--and he's the "cool guy" hero of the movie. Corey plays a partially paralyzed kid with a nifty motorized wheelchair [what a spunky kid!] and Busey is his role model. Amazing.

Now with my dvd, I caught a lot of little jokes--which I missed in my ten year old video copy. Watch for Terry Gilliam in the scene where the crowd is following Brian. He's at the left side of the screen trying to keep up with Brian. But he's behind a blind man. What he does he do? He yanks away the poor guy's cane and pushes him to the ground.
