Da Parade

What an amazing day. I was really apprehensive about getting there and dealing with the crowds. I don't like crowds to begin with. The news radio that morning report that Septa trains were backed up and over flooded with people trying to get into the city.Yikes.So I really didn't think I was going to make it in. But we stuck to side streets and Kelly drive and did alright.

Still, I was worry wart. We found a good spot on Broad and Lombard, right at the edge.Perfect viewing. But I still expected something to go wrong for me. There were young kids hanging in the trees next to us, and I pictured one of them to falling just as the Phillies arrived and ambulances would be blocking my view. Then there was the loud drunk dude who wouldn't shut the hell up as we waited for the parade to start. I was waiting for him to start a fight with someone and get arrested.

But things were actually turning out pretty good and some talented fans entertained the crowd while we waited. Like this guy below:

All my uneasy feelings vanished when I saw my favorite Philly, Pat Burrell lead off the parade :

I went nuts. Totally insane, swept up with pride and love for the team and the city.
My beloved Philly Phanatic and announcer Harry Kalas, at the end:

Below: Manager Charlie Manuel, wearing a snazzy suit [ the crowd chanting Char-lie! Char-lie!] The trophy, and Jason Werth is in there somewhere.

More Phillies, Joe Blanton is in this one, he's second dude from the right. I was giving him two thumbs up, but I don't think he saw me. :)

Here's MVP pitcher Cole Hamels. I called him "Hollywood" Hamels because he looked great. He cleans up nicely :)

The "Flyin' Hawaiian" Shane Victorino. Nice t-shirt Shane.

Below, J.C. Romero and other Phillies.
