Nomination for remake
Anyone remember this? I really enjoyed it. Just a fun popcorn movie. A sci-fi thriller, but mostly thriller. It helps that the two lead actors are very talented. There's too many films that are slated for remakes that shouldn't be touched. But if Hollywood must remake movies, then I can see this getting another update. H.G. Wells chasing after Jack the Ripper in the age of ipods, cell phones, text messaging etc.
Of course it wouldn't be good as the original.

It even starred your favorite actress of all time... Mary Steenburgen!
Not to mention a post "Alex" yet pre "insane" Malcolm MacDowell!
Definitely good, mild cheese at any rate.

Don't think I ever saw it...sounds like a fun premise. Though I don't think it'd have the same appeal recast with twenty-somethings, and you KNOW they'd have to young it down.

Variety announced earlier this week that "Time After Time" is, indeed, getting a make-over.
Cast is reported to be:
Ashton Kutcher as H.G. Wells
Hayden Panetierre as Mary Steenburgen's character, Amy Robbins.
David Warner, however, returns as Jack the Ripper as Mr. Warner hasn't aged appreciatively since approximately 1982.
Replacing Nick Meyer as director will be Mikey "Mr. Sliderule" McGonnigle, most recently of Westbury High School, Feltching Twp, New Jersey. Mr. McGonnigle's latest dual achievement was as president of the WHS math team as well as director of the drama department's production of a one-act adaptation of "Survivor: Fiji: the Series".
Also of note; Metallica has signed on to record a new rendition of Cyndi Lauper's hit single "Time After Time" in a brazen attempt to squeeze yet more cash out of the target audience. Whether toddlers actually possess the disposable cash in order to satisfy the apparently insatiable greed of those guys is yet to be seen.

For the record, Mary Steenburgen is not my fav. actress. But her name is fun to say.
McG or Bruckheimer directing
Alan Rickman as Jack the Ripper
Heath Ledger as H.G. Wells
Scarlett Johannsen as Amy

Well it goes without saying that ScarJo would be Amy. I mean... hell, she's in everything lately!
